[Demo] Current Update: How to Write a Dated Kiarapedia Update
A dated example showing how to document an announcement or event change.
Demo article. Current Updates are designed for information that changes over time: events, deadlines, announcements, closures, schedules, public notices and other dated developments.
Start with the date
The article should make the publication or update date easy to see. If the subject has an event date or deadline, include that separately. A reader should be able to tell whether the information applies today, to a future date or to a past event.
What changed?
Describe the change in a few direct sentences. Identify the organization, authority or organizer responsible for the announcement when applicable. Do not state an unverified social-media claim as an official decision.
Status and next steps
Explain whether the information is announced, confirmed, postponed, cancelled, completed or awaiting confirmation. If readers need to apply, attend, register or take another action, provide the official instructions.
Updating an old entry
When a later announcement supersedes the original information, update the article and preserve the relevant dates. Do not silently leave an old deadline in a page that appears current.
Source discipline
Use first-party notices where possible. For breaking or disputed information, identify the source and avoid presenting an uncertain claim as settled fact.
